I'm Elizabeth Gomes
I'm fascinated by many things - the beauty in the small possibly overlooked, things in nature, exploring mixed media to capture a mood or an emotion, the uniqueness and beauty in the human face.
I received a BFA in Textiles from the California College of Arts and Crafts. After working in this area for a few years, I left it for a career in healthcare, working mainly with older adults. But all the time I felt like a big part of me was missing and that part was my art. I was inspired to start drawing and painting by realizing the beauty in the older faces I met that often went unrecognized.
My return to art has led me to explore many different media and approaches, but I am most drawn to finding beauty in small moments in my garden, things overlooked and also exploring imagery that calms and centers me. I'm also strongly drawn to the concept of Wabi Sabi, a Japanese aesthetic which has celebrates the beauty of imperfection and impermanence
After some years of learning and exploration I have begun to show my work in galleries and art centers. I now feel ready to share my work with others, in the hopes of helping them to see moments of joy and peace all around them every day as a way of counterbalancing the stresses of life.
My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.
